GC AMERICA -- Injection Molding Technique
CE Credits: 1 Live, Interactive CEU
Presenters: Dr. Tal Wilkins IV

A smile makeover is a very complex and involved treatment which incorporates an in-depth knowledge of smile design, proper occlusion, and the ability to work with a team, to include the dental laboratory technician. Typically, the treatment plan begins to come to life after a detailed smile analysis and a wax up which is ideally fabricated by a technician. The skilled technician’s hands use a free hand approach in the wax up. The difficulty lies in the dentist then transferring this plan, complete with the proper form and fine details, to the patient’s mouth.

While porcelain crowns or veneers are the typical mainstay of this type of treatment, composite veneers offer a less costly option. Composite can also be used as an interim restorative material while phasing treatment and allowing the patient to proceed through treatment at their own pace. With the advent of new composite filler technology, it is now possible to utilize flowable composites, which have wear properties similar to traditional composites. These new injectable composites, combined with clear PVS matrices, can be used to quickly and accurately duplicate the wax up in the patient’s mouth. This new approach significantly lessens the learning curve for new practitioners performing full mouth rehabilitation or smile makeovers.

Upon completion of this CE webinar, the participants will be able to:

  • Know the materials used in Injection Molding Technique
  • Understand a step-by-step method of injection molding
  • Uses for the injection molding technique

EMS DENTAL -- Back to Biofilm: Revamp Your Dental Hygiene Practice
CE Credits: 1 Self-Study CE
Presenters: Adam E. Saltz, DMD, MS, MPH

Routine prophylaxis with hand and power instruments has long been the standard for maintaining oral and systemic health. The endpoint of this and other non-surgical procedures, however, has shifted to minimize tooth substance loss during instrumentation and empower patients to take ownership of their homecare. As concerns for peri-implant disease also rise, newer techniques must be introduced to prevent damage to the implant surface and the destructive sequalae of titanium ion and particle release into the surrounding tissues. Guided biofilm therapy (GBT) provides a gentle and effective way to preserve healthy teeth, orthodontic appliances, and implant restorations with patient-friendly materials and precision technology. Patients can see an improvement in their oral health in real time with an emphasis on dental hygiene motivation and education as part of treatment. Implementing this protocol will improve the patient experience and re-excite the entire clinical team in their management of the dental biofilm. GBT further creates immediate value and synergy in the dentist-hygienist relationship.

Learning Objectives:
After completing this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the evolution and rationale for biofilm removal
  • Outline the basic workflow of guided biofilm therapy
  • Identify the specific uses and benefits of guided biofilm therapy around teeth, implants, and orthodontic appliances
  • Confidently implement this system in your hygiene practice
